We have good experience that led strip works well as a kitchen countertop lighting. Using Led strip for the kitchen lighting, you can create the perfect solution for kitchen partitions under the upper cabinets! The strip and aluminium profile are thin and unobtrusive, but effective. We also offer waterproof (IP65) LED strip, but for normal conditions we opt for a dry room IP21 strip strip in a splash-proof (IP44) aluminium profile. The Led strip in the kitchen partition should be installed in a heat conductive material to maximise its lifetime.
Our Led strips have a calculated lifetime of 35 000 or 50 000 hours of use, depending on strip. The lifetime is achieved if they are kept cool enough (i.e. mounted in a heat-conducting aluminium profile). However, the SUPREME LED striphas a longer lifetime, up to 70 000 hours. This stripcomes with a 7-year guarantee. Below you will find pictures and tips if you are thinking of buying a led light fixture for your kitchen.
Led strip light for kitchen to make working easier
With the Led profile, you get beautiful, even, continuous lighting all the way across your kitchen worktops. It is often darker under the kitchen cabinets, because the cabinets on the sides shade the space. The lighting of the crawl space is therefore one of the most important aspects of kitchen lighting. Especially when there are dark surfaces in the space between, there must be enough light. Kitchen work is more comfortable in good lighting, and good light makes it easier to be comfortable to look at.
According to Työtehoseura, kitchen lighting is important both for improving functionality and from an ecological perspective. Työtehoseura has written about sustainable kitchen design:
“The purpose of lighting is to increase the functionality and safety of the space. In addition to good general lighting, the kitchen needs lighting at water points, worktops, the cooking surface and the dining table, among other things. Lighting should always be installed in such a way that it does not dazzle workers or those sitting at the table. By choosing indirect lighting, it is possible to avoid excessively bright light and strong reflections. LEDs are by far the most energy-efficient and versatile type of light bulb in the kitchen, but it is worth paying attention to the quality of the LEDs when buying them. Halogens, which are gradually being phased out, are not a good solution as they heat up the furniture and are energy wasters compared to LEDs and energy-saving light bulbs. Motion sensors also save on lighting costs. Natural light is important, and a good kitchen has a window, of course.”

The kitchen area is illuminated with an efficient LED striplight
There is a wide range of Led strips to choose from. Led stripadmittance gives a good indication of how much light, or lumen, comes from strip. We indicate the lumen efficiency per metre in our tapes. For backsplash lighting, it’s recommended to choose a high-output LED strip, but it’s also important to consider that the total length is typically greater than, for example, on individual kitchen worktops with a general queue-type luminaire with one or two sockets and an operating switch on the light body.
Even lighting can be achieved with as little as 1.2 meters of LED strip providing 1,000 lumens per meter—equivalent to about one general-purpose ceiling light. One of our most powerful strips is the color temperature adjustable SOLO 14.4 W/m, which delivers approximately 1,600 lumens per meter. In other words, just 75 cm of this LED strip provides the same light output as a standard ceiling fixture.
For situations where more light is needed, we recommend using an aluminum profile such as the SURFACE 2 shown in the image below. Two stripstrips can also be installed in parallel. The Led stripcan be fitted with a dimmable operating button in the profile, which means you can easily dimming the strip for ease of use.

LED strip for the kitchen backsplash – the strip installed in an aluminum profile
The Led list is created by mounting a LED strip on an aluminium profile. There are many ready-made aluminium profiles for the strip, with a glare shield or diffuser in front to balance the light. First, consider where you want to install the LED strip in the kitchen: should the LED profile be placed at the front edge of the cabinet, in the middle, or toward the back edge? Once the placement and installation lengths are known, the aluminium profiles can be ordered cut to size from LedStore, as a LedPaja service. We make the kitchen led stripto order. Ask also for our installation service from LedPaja, if you want LED stripin your kitchen ready to use!

If you want to install an stripstrip at the front or in the middle of a cabinet, we recommend a low profile stripstrip with the light pointing straight down. The profile is brushed aluminium. Our low-profile aluminium profile is splash-proof, meaning it is water-resistant under normal conditions with a protection rating of IP44. Led lights under the drying cabinet is therefore also successful. The ends must be protected during the installation phase, e.g. after piercing the wire with silicone to ensure a waterproof result. In addition to brushed aluminium, this profile is available in white and black painted.
If you want to install LED lights on the back wall of the cabinet, we recommend using a 45 degree profile . The profile is made of brushed aluminium. The 45 degree angle of the profile reflects the light to the front of the table. The advantage of installing in the rear corner of the cabinet is that it is usually tidier to run the wiring to the power supply inside the cabinet or on top of it along the rear wall of the cabinet. This also has an LED light list on top of the cabinetry, so that the LED profile reflects the light well. The cover protects the stripstrip from dripping and splashing water. Additional protection can be achieved by choosing a moisture-resistant LED strip, such as one with an IP65 rating.

Our third widely used aluminium profile is a white 16x18mm surface profile with the light direction straight down. It is about half the depth of the low profile, so it also better evens out the pointiness of the stripstrip and better dissipates heat from our higher power LED strips, such as 17W/m BALANCE. It protects the stripstrip from dripping water and splashing water. For backsplash lighting purposes, additional protection can be ensured by choosing a waterproof IP65-rated LED strip when needed.
Here are just a few of our designs. You can find more profiles in our online store under the category “Aluminium Profiles.”

Kitchen recess lighting – product options for the kitchen
The choice of LED strip is an important part of the lighting purchase. An LED strip provides sufficient lighting for work surfaces when it delivers around 1,000 to 1,600 lumens per meter. This amount of light comes from e.g. 14,4W/m or 17W/m with strips or with a Supreme 13,6 or SOLO 14,4 stripless than one metre long. The list below summarises the technical characteristics of LED strips, including where they are installed and the colours and gloss levels of the materials.
Features of Led strips:

Colour temperature adjustable led strip for kitchen backsplash
Colour adjustable CCT-strip is well-suited for open kitchen spaces where ambiance is created through light color temperature and dimming. This kind of LED lighting fixture for the kitchen can be created by adjusting the Kelvin level of the CCT LED stripbetween warm and cold tones. An LED strip in the kitchen suits any mood—from evening coziness to bright daylight—within a range of approximately 2,500K to 6,500K. Our ambiance-focused LED strips come in various power options and strip types, including 3.6 W/m SOLO, 7.2 W/m SOLO, and 14.4 W/m SOLO, as well as 7.2 W/m SMD, 14.4 W/m SMD, and 22 W/m SMD. All of these have an excellent colour rendering index, meaning that the ambient tones are perfectly reproduced without any colour reproduction being affected by anything other than the colour temperature control. We are happy to help you choose the right LED strip.

LED strip for the kitchen – dimming
An LED strip for the kitchen backsplash is often installed in a way that allows it to be dimmed. Here are a couple of examples:
1. Replacing old lighting with dimmable lighting in a site where the luminaires will be subject to so-called “dimming”. continuous electricity and the old luminaire itself has an on/off switch (e.g. a queue light), you can do this by adding a wireless dimmer to the new LED profile or a contact dimmer that can be punched into the end of the strip. In these cases, the transformer is supplied with continuous current, but the dimming and on/off position are controlled either by a touch dimmer or by a wireless (battery operated) dimmer mounted in a freely selectable location. The wireless dimmer is also paired with a receiver, which can be built into the power supply, for example. This allows for versatile use of the lighting in the crawl space, and the kitchen crawl space lighting serves the kitchen as well as possible.
2. New builds and applications where the lighting in cabinets is controlled by a wall switch are easy to manage. Simply choose a dimmable driver based on the length of the strip, and replace the wall switch with a rotary dimmer. There are many ways to control. Led lights in the kitchen area can also be connected to home automation, for example.

Automatic colour temperature control and strip brightness easily set to the right level
When we talk about lighting automation, we mean lighting controls that turn lights on and off or otherwise adjust them, such as colour temperature and brightness, according to preset rules. The amount of light, i.e. brightness and temperature, affects the natural circadian rhythm of humans, so there is increasing interest in how lighting and lighting control can affect well-being.
Ask us for more information about the LED profile control options. LED lighting in the kitchen environment can also include other types of fixtures, which we design to be a seamless part of the home. The kitchen is the heart of the home, where a lot of time is spent at different times of the day, so we think that colour temperature and brightness control is particularly well suited to it. For example, our blog has a wellbeing article with the strong title ” Do LED lights help with depression?
At the heart of the automation is a power supply/transformer connected to an LED stripor other LED luminaire. Alternatives include TRIACs, DALIs, and Zigbee protocol transformers. In addition to the pre-set automatic settings, the luminaires can always be controlled from wall switches and/or via mobile devices such as mobile phones and tablets. For example, we have written about automation under the title Zigbee smart lighting – five points in a nutshell.
We have published a photo gallery of some of the places we have illuminated. For example, in this KNX (lighting) automation project, the lighting in the open kitchen is a successful whole: a house in Sipoonranta KNX (Dali).
