LED outdoor lights are easy on the eye and illuminate the garden and nature beautifully. Especially in the dark seasons, outdoor lighting is often on, so it makes sense to replace halogen and fluorescent lamps with LED lamps. In addition to saving electricity, LED outdoor lights have the advantage of a long lifetime. The colder it is, the longer and brighter the LED light will shine. LEDs are also significantly more resistant to ignition and shutdown. In addition, compared to fluorescent lamps, the inherent cold resistance of LEDs is a clear advantage. LED lamps not only succeed in reducing electricity bills (-40-80% compared to traditional light sources), but also save power and produce less waste heat.

LED light also often takes up much less space than, for example, halogen and does not require fire protection. LED luminaires stay cool during use, which is a good thing, not only for fire safety, but also for usability. Outdoor lights are often installed on decking, for example, and especially if you have children or pets, it is more convenient to install LED lights that do not burn fingers, toes or paws when touched (unlike halogen lights, for example).

LED outdoor lighting and quality

LED outdoor lighting and light output?

Looking at the light output (lumens) per watt, it should be at least 80 lumens/W. By comparison, an incandescent bulb produces 10 lumens/W and the latest LED lamps already produce 140-160 lumens/W! Modern LED bulbs are efficient and therefore really light up.

LED outdoor lighting and colour rendering?

The high quality LED lamp with its high colour rendering power reproduces colours beautifully, in natural tones. The stumbling block for LED lights is usually the reproduction of the red colour. We therefore recommend that you carry a red paper strip with you when you go lamp shopping, so that you can quickly see what the colour rendering of light LED light is. In our range you will find lights with CRI 83 to CRI 98. Above CRI 90 is starting to be considered excellent in terms of colour rendering and lights below CRI 80 are recommended mainly for warehouse lighting. LED outdoor lighting and light colour?

LED lights are available in almost any colour of light. However, the most common are warm white (3000K, halogen) or neutral white (4000K). The colour temperature of daylight changes in nature during the day and as the time of year changes, and in Finland averages between 5500K and 5800K. Indoors, such cold light is often perceived as very bluish. You can find the right light shade for you by comparing, as there is no one “right” light shade. For outdoor lighting, we like warm white (3000K), which makes the home look cosy.

Note that you can find outdated technology in the shops, with poor light output, bluish tint and odd colour reproduction (CRI below 80) or just plain poor quality. So you should be careful.

LEDs help save energy and the environment and gradually reduce the burden on nature thanks to their long lifetime. Led also contains no harmful chemicals.
