The LED light list provides individual lighting solutions for every kitchen, taking into account the shape and dimensions of the kitchen. The location of kitchen furniture and the style and size of the cooker hood, for example, also create the need for a functional LED strip lighting design. LedStore’s bespoke service, LedPaja, will help you with the design and ensure a quick and safe implementation. From autumn onwards, you can also order the installation of led-lists from us.

Led lighting is suitable for many areas of the kitchen

When designing kitchen lighting, attention is paid to ensuring that there is enough light on worktops and cabinets. In many modern homes, kitchens are open and connected to living areas by islands or airy walls. In this case, the kitchen lighting should also take into account those moments when only light mood lighting is needed in the kitchen. There are several common LED strip lighting options in the kitchen:

  • worktops and under-cabinet space
  • kitchen cupboard tops
  • inside cabinets
  • island illumination
  • kitchen plinth lighting
  • the edges of a lowered roof

Led lighting for kitchen worktops

The Led strip provides uniform and efficient lighting, leaving no obscured areas on the worktop and making the whole worktop easy to use. If there is no cabinetry above the worktop, then a suspension profile can be used to provide uniform lighting. If, on the other hand, the worktop is underneath the cabinetry, you should choose an LED track made of LED strip and aluminium profile, mounted under the cabinetry.

Led lighting on top of cabinets and plinths

Top-mounted LED rails and discreet LED rails mounted on the plinth, close to the floor level, are certainly the right way to add comfort in the evening, for example. Both lights are indirect and you can choose a dimmer strip if you wish.

Led lighting fixture for kitchen island accent

Island lighting is usually done by illuminating one of the sides of the island. Very often, the page that is selected is the one above which the level extends the furthest, i.e. the breakfast level. This kind of island lighting is both an effective way to create an island and a solution to provide atmospheric indirect light in the kitchen.

Interior lighting of kitchen cabinets with LED light list

It is easy to light the inside of cabinets so that the lights come on when the cabinet is opened and go out when it is closed. For example, in kitchen corners and deep cupboards, cabinet lighting is a good solution. The convenience of the kitchen is greatly increased when you can quickly find the utensils, ingredients and tools you need in the cupboards.

Display cabinet lighting is also popular, but it is best to install a switch to keep the lights on even when the cabinet is closed. The light reflecting through the glass adds atmosphere to the space.

Light output with low energy consumption

LED lighting is energy efficient. Although the amount of light increases, with LedPaja, well-designed, multifunctional lighting does not consume too much and therefore does not increase electricity bills. Decorative lighting, e.g. in the dining room, can also be equipped with high-quality LED bulbs in most cases.

LedPaja’s design takes into account practical considerations and economics, based on long experience. The lighting in the room is therefore designed entirely according to the customer’s needs, to be as practical and easy to use as possible.

Kitchen LED lighting – Things to consider with LedPajala

When designing, it is important to consider the size and placement of the transformers, as well as the wiring required for the LED strip to the transformer. LedPaja should be consulted during the design phase, so that the end result is functional and the wiring is installed unobtrusively.

In the kitchen, the placement of transformers often makes use of cabinet fixings, false floors and other wasted space. The transformer can also be placed on top of the cabinet or concentrated behind the service hatch. It is a good idea to plan the transformer locations so that when the LED strip is assembled, the appropriate length of intermediate wires and plugs can be soldered or connected to the LED strip if necessary. At LedPaja, we are also happy to take into account the structural characteristics of the kitchen.

Moisture protection should also be taken into account when designing LED lighting in the kitchen. Care should be taken when selecting splash-prone areas by the sink, as well as any plinth railings. All our LED strips have waterproof options, meaning that the surface of the LED strip has a thin, non-yellowing silicone coating. However, when using the aluminium profile with a cover, the LED strip does not need to be moisture-proof, as the cover protects the LED strip from splashing water. The profile is of a tight construction and is cast in one piece, so only the ends of the profile need to be handled with care.

In places where dust is likely to accumulate, an aluminium profile with a diffuser is usually sufficient to protect the LED strip, e.g. when wiping off dust. Dust accumulating on the LED circuit reduces the luminosity of the strip, and reduces the heat dissipation away from the strip, thus shortening its lifetime.

With our bespoke service, we go through the necessary details to make the whole sustainable and fit for purpose.

Choice of Led strip and aluminium trim for different kitchen applications

There are several types of LED strips and aluminium profiles to choose from, so it’s good to know at least the basic types when you start planning:

The power of the LED strip affects not only how much power it consumes, but also how bright the strip is. LedStore’s LED strips are dimmable and are roughly divided into two categories according to their intended use:

  • 7.2 W/m HELMEILE strip provides atmospheric, indirect extra light for islands, plinths and cupboards. At full power, the strip produces 500 lumens per metre. For high spaces, a more efficient LED strip can be chosen.
  • working light is provided by our more efficient LED strips, available in different wattages from 12.4 W/m to 20 W/m. At full power, they provide from 1000 lumens to 1600 lumens, per metre, depending on the strip. Led strips can be found on our website under the names PRO, SUPREME, HELMEILE 14,4 W/m and EQUAL.

All LED strips are available in both warm white and neutral white. In addition, colour-controlled LED strips, or RGB strips and colour temperature controlled CCT strips, are on the rise in kitchens.

There are roughly five different types of aluminium profile to choose from; 1. narrow surface profiles straight down, 2. eyebrow profiles, 3. upprop profiles, 4. wall profiles for indirect lighting, 5. dependency profiles. In the LedStore online shop, aluminium profiles can be found in their own aluminium profile category.

LedStore’s aluminium profiles are sold in 2.5 metre lengths in whole lengths or cut to size.

With our made-to-measure service at LedPaja, we help you find just the right LED light list: a combination of LED strip and profile, with matching transformers and actuators.
